Electrical System

Power for the Greater Campus Area (GCA) is supplied by self-generation and power purchases. This is distributed to all users in the GCA at 13.8 kV. Infeed is supplied to two switching stations located on campus through six feeders; three feeders to the North Switching Station and three feeders to the South Switching Station. Each feeder has a capacity of 15 MVA.

The high voltage cables that distribute power are in the service corridor. The electrical distribution system comprises high voltage electrical switches, breakers, transformers, etc. and all of the services are metered for billing purposes.

Electrical Utilities is also responsible for the street and area lighting in the GCA.
